Doug Egerton, professor of history at Le Moyne College, Syracuse, N.Y., will share a detailed look at the life and impact of Higginson, minister of Worcester’s Free Church and major pre-Civil War anti-slavery voice. “Until his death in 1911, Higginson played a role,” Egerton wrote, “often a leading and vocal part, in nearly every progressive movement of the 19th century.”
